About us

Dharmarakshat Hand Crafts

A family workshop that grew into a network of artisans, held together by one rule: the hand stays in the work.

Our story

It began with one carving bench

In 1974 our grandfather carved temple doors on a veranda in a small temple town. Buyers came for the doors and stayed for the smaller things — lamps, idols, panels. Fifty years on, Dharmarakshat is a bridge between those workshops and homes around the world.

We buy directly from the artisan, pay before the piece is finished, and name the craft tradition behind every object we sell. Nothing is mass-produced and nothing is resold from a wholesale market.

What we stand for

Three promises

Traditional craftsmanship

Hand tools, lost-wax casting, wheel-thrown clay, bamboo kalam pens. No moulds cast from someone else's work, no machine finishing.

Quality promise

Every piece is checked twice — once at the workshop, once before it ships. If a piece arrives less than we promised, we replace it.

Sustainable & handmade

Seasoned, legally sourced timber, vegetable dyes, recycled brass and plastic-free packing. Slower to make, made to last.

Commission something of your own
